Location
Scenically located on the Saigon river, Hotel Majestic in Ho Chi Minh City offers travelers a look- if only a glimpse- of a colonial era in Vietnam that is long gone.
The French colonial style structure of the Hotel Majestic was opened for business in 1925 in Saigon, known today as Ho Chi Minh City. At the time it was the city's finest hotel. The hotel has seen itself rejuvenated several times since then, very much following the shaky history of Vietnam itself. During the second World War, the Japanese army used the Majestic as a military barracks, and during the Vietnam War the Majestic was a notorious hot-spot for foreign corespondents as well as agents of international espionage.
Since it's inception in 1925, the Hotel Majestic has changed hands a number of times, and also gone through numerous renovations and expansions. When it first opened, the Majestic had only 44 rooms, a far cry from the 175 rooms it boasts today.
The Hotel Majestic is conveniently located within walking distance of many of Ho Chi Minh's attractions including the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Ben Thanh Markets, and the beautiful Opera House. Activity seekers may also be interested in the tours offered by the Majestic. Offering tours of all kinds from one half day city trips to a three day gold tour.
With all that Saigon has to offer, guests as the Hotel Majestic can still find a reason to stay in and enjoy all of the amenities offered. The hotel featuring eight bars, lounges, and restaurants, many featuring colonial-style decor. Many of the venues offer scenic views of the Saigon River, so there are plenty of reasons to lay around the hotel all day.
Also conveniently located on the first floor is the Hotel Majestic's Health Club; a wonderful complex which features an open-air swimming pool as well as a fitness center, a spa, and the Merry Pool Bar. The area is ideal for those who just want to be able to sunbathe in a romantic setting whether under the sun by day, or stars by night.
Guests interested in learning to cook Vietnamese cuisine will enjoy the "Majestic Cooking Class" held on the ground floor in the Cycle Cafe. The chef teaches participants to cook authentic Vietnamese dishes of their choosing.
