Akbar Ali was a small Indian restaurant at 240 Bui Vien, on the backpacker street in District 1. We couldn't confirm that it is still open in 2026.

Our 2009-era listing had Akbar Ali at 240 Bui Vien, serving Indian food at about $2-3 a dish. Halal food directories (Zabihah, HalalTrip) still list it at that address, but without dates, and we found no recent reviews or posts showing it open this year. Search results disagree, so treat it as unconfirmed and check a current map listing before you walk down for dinner.

Bui Vien and the lanes around it have several Indian and halal places, so you don’t need Akbar Ali to eat well here. Baba’s Kitchen has a branch on Bui Vien (listed as open 11:00-23:00 on Trip.com), and Bedori Halal Restaurant gives its address as 44/4 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, near the Al Rahim mosque. Check hours on the day.
