Our 2009 listing had Chi Nghia at 53 Thu Khoa Huan in District 1, serving Vietnamese food at about $2-3 a meal. We found no current listing, reviews or posts for a restaurant of that name at the address, and a property-agent post advertises the shopfront at number 53 for rent (undated). So we can’t say it’s open, and wouldn’t plan a meal around it.
Where to eat around Ben Thanh now
Thu Khoa Huan runs just behind Ben Thanh market, and the streets around it have plenty of cheap Vietnamese food: rice plates, noodle soups and grilled dishes, mostly open at lunch and again in the evening. Look for places with a queue of locals and a menu with prices on it. The market itself has food stalls inside.
