Da Lat airport: Lien Khuong (DLI)

Da Lat's airport is Lien Khuong (DLI), about 30 km south of the town. It reopened on 19 August 2026 after a five-month runway rebuild, with flights from Saigon, Hanoi, Da Nang and Kuala Lumpur. The drive into Da Lat takes 35 to 50 minutes.

Where is Da Lat airport?

Da Lat’s airport, Lien Khuong International (IATA code DLI), is in Duc Trong, about 30 km south of the centre of Da Lat on the road to Saigon. It’s the only airport serving Da Lat and the Langbiang plateau. A car or taxi takes 35 to 50 minutes into town: a 19 km four-lane highway from the airport to the foot of the Prenn pass, then the climb through pine forest into the centre.

Since July 2025 the airport has been in the enlarged Lam Dong province, which also covers Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. That doesn’t make it a good airport for the beach: Mui Ne is 3½ hours away by road, and Saigon’s airport is closer to the coast.

Is Da Lat airport open in 2026?

Yes. Lien Khuong airport closed at midnight on 4 March 2026 and reopened on 19 August 2026, about a week earlier than first announced. During the closure the 3,250-metre runway and about 1.3 km of taxiway were rebuilt in concrete in place of the old asphalt, which lets the airport take wide-body aircraft (Tuoi Tre, 19 August 2026).

The first flight back was Vietnam Airlines VN1380 from Saigon, which landed at 6:45 am, and the airport handled 28 flights and about 1,000 passengers that day. The airport expects 36 to 40 flights a day once schedules settle.

If you read older advice about flying to Cam Ranh or Buon Ma Thuot and driving up because Da Lat airport is shut, it dates from March to August 2026 and no longer applies.

Seoul–Da Lat and Bangkok–Da Lat flights ran before the closure and were being negotiated again, but weren’t on sale when we checked. Fares from Saigon started at a little over 1 million ₫ one way when the airport reopened, and weekend seats sell out first.

How to get from Da Lat airport to the city

You have three choices: the airport bus, a taxi or ride-hail car from the rank, or a car booked in advance. All take the same road. The difference is where they leave you and how long you wait.

The airport shuttle bus

An airport shuttle bus meets arriving flights and runs to a single stop in the centre of Da Lat for about 40,000–50,000₫ a seat (2025–2026 listings). It’s cheap and fine if you travel light and your hotel is near the stop. It waits to fill up after each flight, and from the stop you’ll usually need a taxi up the hill to your hotel.

Taxi or ride-hail from the airport

Taxis wait outside arrivals, and listings in 2026 put the ride to central Da Lat at roughly 200,000–450,000₫ a car. The price depends on the car, the company and how you book it, and the car you get is whatever is first in line. Hotel shuttles are another option: resorts quote around $25 a car, booked through the hotel.

A private car booked in advance

A booked car is waiting when you land. The driver tracks the flight, stands in arrivals with your name on a sign, and waits up to 90 minutes if the flight is late or the bags are slow. The price is fixed before you travel, the car is the size you chose, and the driver goes to your hotel’s door, including the villa lanes too steep for a bus.

That matters most for families and late arrivals. A 7-seater takes a family of five with cases; a sedan or VinFast doesn’t. Child seats are available on request. We hold drivers to the same standard on this short run as on the long ones: calm driving, no smoke in the car, working seatbelts. The Prenn pass is the last 7 km, and it’s all bends.

Leaving Da Lat: when to set off for the airport

Leave your hotel about 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. The 35 to 50 minute drive can stretch after rain on the Prenn pass, or behind trucks at weekends. Most flights leave in the morning and early afternoon.

If you’d rather not fly, a private car from Da Lat to Saigon takes 6 to 7 hours, and it can stop at Bao Loc on the way. The full comparison of car, bus and flight is on our Da Lat page.

Flying to Da Lat or flying to Cam Ranh?

Fly into Lien Khuong if Da Lat is your main stop. Cam Ranh (CXR), Nha Trang’s airport, has more international flights, and some travellers land there and drive up. From Cam Ranh to Da Lat is about 3 to 3¾ hours over the Khanh Le pass, which is open only from 5 am to 6 pm. That works if you land in the morning; after an evening landing, spend the night in Nha Trang and drive up the next day.

Going the other way, a car from Lien Khuong straight to Nha Trang takes 3 to 3¾ hours. The Da Lat to Nha Trang transfer page has the pass rules and stops.
