A 2011 student food blog described Hideaway Cafe as an old-style, romantic cafe in an alley off Pham Ngoc Thach, in a building dating back decades, and our 2008 listing had it as international food at about $3-5. A local directory still lists the address, but undated, and we found no recent posts or reviews to show it trading. Several search results mention other cafes called Hideaway elsewhere in the city (for example on De Tham), which is a different business, so don’t mix them up.
Where to go instead
Pham Ngoc Thach is lined with cafes, many of them tucked into alleys and old apartment blocks in the same style. Walk a little and you’ll find one with seating you like. The street is close to the War Remnants Museum, so it’s a convenient stop after a morning there; see our guide to Saigon’s museums.
