Compared with the resort's own car

Resort transfer: Free for hotel guests, with advance booking and subject to seats, from two pickup points in central Saigon (14 Vo Van Kiet, and The Panorama, 22 P Street, Tan Hung Ward, from 1 July 2026). Departures from Vo Van Kiet: Mon-Thu 10:00, 11:00, 15:00; Fri 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 18:00; Sat 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, 13:00; Sun 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00. From The Panorama: 11:00 daily. Return buses leave the resort several times a day. The resort says the ride takes about 3 hours, traffic permitting, and to be at the stop 20 minutes early (thegrandhotram.com/how-to-get-there, read 4 Oct 2026).

Our private car: $50 (1.300.000₫) for a sedan, $56 for a 7-seater. Per car, tolls included.

The shuttle does not run from the airport, so you first need a taxi to the pickup point and a seat on a set departure. A private car takes you from arrivals to the door, with a driver tracking your flight.

The drive

From Tan Son Nhat the driver crosses Saigon to the Long Thanh–Dau Giay expressway or, in a car with fewer than nine seats, the new Bien Hoa–Vung Tau expressway, then follows the coast road through Phuoc Hai and Loc An to Ho Tram. Allow longer on Friday afternoons and before public holidays, when weekend traffic to the coast builds.

The Bien Hoa–Vung Tau expressway opened in full on 18 May 2026 for vehicles under nine seats, so the vehicle size can shift the time.

Why a car rather than the free shuttle

The shuttle is a good deal if it fits: free, about 3 hours, and it drops at the resort. It is for guests only, leaves from two points in the city and has a fixed timetable, so you need to be in District 1 or at the Panorama and be there 20 minutes early. From the airport that means a first taxi, then a wait.

A booked car meets you at arrivals with a name sign, tracks your flight and waits up to 90 minutes free. It suits late landings, families with strollers and car seats, golfers with bags and anyone who wants the evening to start at the pool and not on a coach. Ask for a 7-seater with big luggage or a group of five.

The standard we hold drivers to is calm driving, sparing horn, no cigarette smoke and no strong air freshener, and a cabin that smells clean after a long flight. Child seats are available on request.

Arriving at the resort

The car pulls up at the main entrance. Resorts of this size normally keep luggage for early arrivals; ask the hotel if you need a room before the afternoon.

Who this suits

Golfers, couples and families who want a big resort with many pools and restaurants, and anyone taking a short beach break from Saigon. Ho Tram is much quieter than Vung Tau; if you want a town with a seafront and street food, stay in Vung Tau or add a night there. See Ho Tram for the area.

Going back

For the return, set the booking box to the resort and Tan Son Nhat. Check-out is mid-morning, so a late flight can leave you with hours to fill; ask for a luggage hold and a late pickup, or add a wait on the way.

Our driver standard

The car you'd want after a long flight

Car quality in Vietnam varies wildly: a driver smoking between jobs, seatbelts tucked away or missing, a car that's done half a million kilometres. This is the standard we hold every driver to, and what we ask you about after every trip.

  • Calm hands on the wheel. Smooth, unhurried driving. Safety comes before speed, every time.
  • The horn is for emergencies. Not a musical instrument. Anyone who has sat in Saigon traffic knows why we say this.
  • No smoke, no perfume bomb. Nobody smokes in our cars, and there's no air freshener strong enough to make your eyes water.
  • Air you'd want to breathe. Cabin filters changed on schedule, so the air-con blows clean, not twenty years of exhaust.
  • Newer cars, kind suspension. Cars in good condition, with seats and suspension made for a four-hour drive.
  • Seatbelts that work. In every seat. Child seats are free on request.

FAQ

About this transfer

How long is the transfer from Saigon airport to InterContinental Grand Ho Tram?

Typically 2½ to 3¼ hours, about 130 km. Getting out of Saigon is the variable part, so avoid leaving the airport between 4 and 7 pm if you can. Tell us your flight and we plan around it.

Doesn't the resort run a free shuttle?

Yes, for guests with a reservation, from two pickup points in central Saigon at set times (about 3 hours). It doesn't serve the airport. If you land at a time that doesn't match a departure, or you are travelling with luggage, children or a group, a private car is simpler. If you are already in the city and a departure fits, the shuttle costs nothing.

Is the hotel the same as The Grand Ho Tram?

Yes. The Grand Ho Tram, formerly the Grand Ho Tram Strip, now trades as InterContinental Grand Ho Tram. Drivers and locals still say The Grand.

Can you take us from the resort to Vung Tau or Mui Ne?

Yes. A private car from Ho Tram to Vung Tau takes about 45–60 minutes and to Mui Ne about 2¾–3½ hours. The onward table below lists each route and price.

Can you take us back to the airport?

Yes. Swap From and To in the booking box. For an international flight leave the resort about 5½ hours before departure.
