What it is
Le Jardin has long been a quiet French lunch spot, set back from the street in the grounds of IDECAF (its Facebook page is named “Le Jardin L’Idecaf”). Our old listing had it as French food at about $3-5, a figure from 2008. Recent reviews describe tasty, well-presented food and attentive service, and the restaurant’s own posts advertise lunch from about 11 am. We couldn’t find a current menu with prices, so ask when you arrive.
Where
31 Thai Van Lung, Ben Nghe ward, District 1. It is a few minutes’ walk from the Saigon Opera House and Dong Khoi, so it fits into a day in the centre.

For more places to eat, see our Ho Chi Minh City guide, and for evening street food, Saigon’s night markets. Another long-running French place in the city is Ty Coz, though we could not confirm it still trades.
