What it is
Tib occupies what looks like an old Saigon house, reached down an alley from Hai Ba Trung street, according to a TripAdvisor review. Its Facebook pages call it “Tib - Hue Restaurant” and also list a vegetarian version, “Tib Chay”. Hue cooking means small plates, rice cakes, spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo Hue) and the royal-style dishes the city is known for, though we haven’t been able to check the current menu.
Where and when
187 Hai Ba Trung (listings also write 187 Ter), District 3. A contact page for the restaurant gives lunch from 11:00 to 14:00 and dinner from 17:00 to 22:00, and the restaurant’s Facebook page gives last orders at about 21:00. Book ahead for groups; the restaurant lists a hotline.
What it costs
Our 2009 listing put it at about $5-8 a head. Current prices aren’t published where we could find them, and a Foody reviewer describes it as slightly pricey, so expect mid-range and ask for the menu.
