Where is the Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel?
The Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel stands at 2 Tran Phu, on the rise above the south shore of Xuan Huong Lake, in the middle of Da Lat. It was built in 1922 as the Lang Bian Palace, a retreat for Saigon’s colonial elite, and restored in 1995. For many years it was the Sofitel Dalat Palace; it now trades on its own as the Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel, with 73 rooms (43 in the original building, 30 in a newer wing), according to the hotel.
Since July 2025 the address falls in Xuan Huong–Da Lat ward, but every driver in Da Lat knows it as “Dalat Palace”.
How far is the Dalat Palace from Lien Khuong airport?
About 30 km, or 35 to 50 minutes. From Lien Khuong (DLI) the car takes the four-lane highway north to the foot of the Prenn pass, climbs through the pines past Datanla falls, and comes into town on the south side of the lake, where Tran Phu leads to the hotel.
Lien Khuong reopened on 19 August 2026 with flights from Saigon, Hanoi, Da Nang and Kuala Lumpur. The driver tracks the flight and meets you in arrivals with a name sign.
Where does the car stop at the Dalat Palace?
At the main entrance of the 1922 building, up the hotel’s own driveway from Tran Phu. You don’t need to carry bags up a lane, which is worth knowing because much of central Da Lat is steep lanes where cars can’t reach the door.
Guests in the newer wing check in at the same main entrance.
Does the Dalat Palace run its own airport transfer?
Yes, the hotel arranges transfers, but it doesn’t publish a price on its own site. One OTA listing seen in 2026 showed the airport transfer at 220,000₫ per person. For a couple that’s fine. For a family of four or five it adds up, and you don’t choose the car.
A booked car is one price for the whole vehicle. A 7-seater fits a family with cases and golf bags; child seats are available on request.
Driving up from Saigon or down from the coast
From Saigon the Dalat Palace is a 6 to 7 hour drive, and the last kilometre is the best of it: the car comes up the Prenn pass and along the top of the lake to the hotel. Leave by about 7 am to be in the lobby for a late lunch; the Da Lat page has the road and the passes. From Mui Ne allow 3½ to 4½ hours, and from Nha Trang or Cam Ranh 3 to 3¾ hours over the Khanh Le pass, which closes at 6 pm.
What’s near the Dalat Palace?
The hotel’s gardens drop down towards Xuan Huong Lake, and the lake path is a two or three minute walk. Next door is Dalat Palace Golf Club, the town’s historic course, which the hotel books for guests. Walk along Tran Phu and you reach Da Lat Cathedral in about five minutes. The night market and Da Lat market are across the lake, about 15 minutes on foot or five by car.
Even if you aren’t staying, the Dalat Palace is the place for a drink or dinner with a view: Le Rabelais is the French restaurant, Le Cosy the bar, and afternoon tea is served on the terrace. For days out, see things to do in Da Lat.
Leaving the Dalat Palace
For a flight from Lien Khuong, leave the hotel about 2 hours before a domestic departure and 3 before an international one. The Prenn pass is slow after rain.
For a taxi from the Dalat Palace to Nha Trang, set off after breakfast so you cross the Khanh Le pass in daylight; the car can drop you at a resort in Nha Trang or at Cam Ranh. For Mui Ne, Saigon or Bao Loc, a morning start puts you there by mid-afternoon. The table below gives the drive times and prices from the hotel to each zone.
