Is Grand Mercure Dalat the same as Mercure Dalat Resort?
Yes. Grand Mercure Dalat is the resort at 3 Nguyen Du that opened as the Mercure Dalat Resort, and it was relaunched under Accor’s upscale Grand Mercure brand in 2026; the trade press reported the opening on 20 July 2026. It’s the same property, the same Tripadvisor listing and, on Booking.com, the same page: some sites still show the old name and the pre-2025 “Ward 9” address. If you booked “Mercure Dalat” a while ago, you’re staying here.
Tell the driver “Grand Mercure, Nguyen Du”. The old name works too.
What is Grand Mercure Dalat like?
The resort is 131 rooms and suites spread across 12 villas built in the style of Da Lat’s 1920s French houses, in gardens on the hill above the old railway station. The theme borrows from Marguerite Duras’s novel The Lover, set in 1920s Vietnam, and the interiors lean on Monet’s colours. There’s a pool, Deux Amants restaurant, BAO for Cantonese and Sichuan food, Fleurie Café, the 1929 Lobby Bar and Moon Lounge (all according to the resort).
It suits couples and families who want a resort with grounds but still within reach of the town. It’s quieter than the hotels on the lake, and a short drive from them.
How far is Grand Mercure Dalat from Lien Khuong airport?
About 33 km. The resort quotes 50 minutes; in normal traffic the drive takes 40 to 50. The car runs north up the four-lane highway from Lien Khuong (DLI), climbs the Prenn pass, then crosses the south side of town to Nguyen Du. The Prenn pass is the slow part, and after heavy rain it can add a quarter of an hour.
The driver tracks your flight and meets you at arrivals with a name sign, so a late landing doesn’t leave you hunting for a taxi.
Where does the car drop you at Grand Mercure?
At reception, off Nguyen Du, where the resort has its own car park. The rooms are in 12 villas around the grounds, so check in first and ask the resort how bags reach your villa.
Getting to Grand Mercure Dalat from Saigon
From Saigon it’s 6 to 7 hours to Nguyen Du, and the resort sits on the far side of town from the Prenn pass, so add ten minutes across the centre at the end. The Da Lat page has the road and the passes. A family with luggage for a villa stay should book a 7-seater.
Walking from Grand Mercure to the station and the lake
The resort is in the old French quarter on the east side of town. Da Lat railway station is about 900 m away, a 10 to 20 minute walk depending on the hill. Xuan Huong Lake is about 1 km downhill, around 20 minutes on foot. The walk back up after dinner is the catch, so many guests take a car into town in the evening. The things to do in Da Lat page covers the station’s heritage train and the rest of the sights.
Onward from Grand Mercure Dalat
A taxi or private car from Grand Mercure Dalat to Nha Trang takes 3 to 3¾ hours over the Khanh Le pass, which is open only from 5 am to 6 pm; leave in the morning. Mui Ne is 3½ to 4½ hours, Bao Loc about 2½, and Saigon 6 to 7. The same cars run the other way, from a Nha Trang or Mui Ne resort up to Nguyen Du. The table below has the prices from the resort to each zone.
