Cam Ranh airport to An Lam Retreats Ninh Van Bay

An Lam Retreats Ninh Van Bay has no road, so the trip is a car to the resort's own jetty, the An Lam Retreats Lounge, about 63 km from Cam Ranh airport, then a boat of around 15 minutes. We drive the first half to the lounge and the resort runs the boat.

Where the car stops

The An Lam Retreats Lounge, the resort's own boat pier on the mainland. The car stops there, not at the resort. The resort confirms the lounge pin and the boat time when you book.

Hon Heo peninsula, Ninh Van Bay, Khanh Hoa (boat access; mainland departure at the An Lam Retreats Lounge)

Compared with the resort's own car

Resort transfer: The resort says its private airport transfer comes with a butler who escorts you to the retreat; no price on the page. Expedia lists an airport shuttle on request, 8 am to 6 pm, at VND 875,000 per person one way (undated, read October 2026).

Our private car: $15 (400.000₫) for a sedan, $17 for a 7-seater. Per car, tolls included.

Our car is a fixed price per car to the jetty. The boat is arranged with the resort, so check which of the two covers the crossing in your package.

Where is the An Lam Retreats Lounge?

It is the resort’s own pier on the mainland, which Vietnamese booking sites call An Lam Retreats Lounge. They put it about 30 minutes by road from the centre of Nha Trang and about 63 km from Cam Ranh airport along Highway 1. The resort’s own name for the place is the Hon Heo peninsula; Ninh Van Bay is the bay beside it. We could not find a street address for the lounge, so send us the pin the resort gives you, and the driver will use the same one.

How long is the boat?

The resort says Ninh Van Bay is a 15-minute boat ride from Nha Trang, and booking sites say about 15 minutes from the lounge to the resort. In rough weather the crossing is slower and the resort decides whether the boat runs. Soft bags are easier than hard cases.

Is An Lam the same as Six Senses next door?

No. They are neighbours on the same coast, and the resort’s own page names Six Senses Ninh Van Bay and L’Alya Ninh Van Bay as the others. For the Six Senses jetty and its boat see the Six Senses Ninh Van Bay page. Each resort runs its own boat and meeting point, so check which name is on your booking.

What does the car do and what does the boat do?

The car is ours: a fixed price per car from Cam Ranh to the lounge, with the driver at arrivals. The boat belongs to the resort. The resort says its private airport transfer includes a butler who collects you and takes you to the retreat, which suggests its package may include the whole trip. Ask whether your rate includes the boat, and book our car only for the road leg you need.

Can we arrive late or leave early?

Check both ends with the resort. Expedia lists the airport shuttle only from 8 am to 6 pm, and the boat can’t run in rough seas. A flight in the evening or an early international departure usually means a night on the Nha Trang side. For the city, the Nha Trang page covers it.

Leaving Ninh Van Bay for Da Lat or Mui Ne

The boat returns you to the lounge and a car continues from there. The Da Lat to Nha Trang route covers the pass road, and the Mui Ne to Nha Trang route the expressway.

Our driver standard

The car you'd want after a long flight

Car quality in Vietnam varies wildly: a driver smoking between jobs, seatbelts tucked away or missing, a car that's done half a million kilometres. This is the standard we hold every driver to, and what we ask you about after every trip.

  • Calm hands on the wheel. Smooth, unhurried driving. Safety comes before speed, every time.
  • The horn is for emergencies. Not a musical instrument. Anyone who has sat in Saigon traffic knows why we say this.
  • No smoke, no perfume bomb. Nobody smokes in our cars, and there's no air freshener strong enough to make your eyes water.
  • Air you'd want to breathe. Cabin filters changed on schedule, so the air-con blows clean, not twenty years of exhaust.
  • Newer cars, kind suspension. Cars in good condition, with seats and suspension made for a four-hour drive.
  • Seatbelts that work. In every seat. Child seats are free on request.

FAQ

About this transfer

How do you get to An Lam Retreats Ninh Van Bay from Cam Ranh airport?

By car to the An Lam Retreats Lounge, the resort's own pier, then by boat to the retreat. Travel sites put the airport to the lounge at about 63 km along Highway 1, and the resort says the boat takes around 15 minutes. Trailfinders summarises the whole journey as about 90 minutes.

Does your car go to the resort itself?

No. The resort is only reachable by water, so we drive to the lounge and the resort's boat does the crossing.

What does the resort's own transfer cost?

The resort's page does not list a price. Expedia shows VND 875,000 per person one way for an airport shuttle on request from 8 am to 6 pm (undated). A fixed price per car for the road leg helps when you travel as a family or a group.

What if our flight lands after the boats stop?

The Expedia listing runs its shuttle only from 8 am to 6 pm, so ask the resort for its last boat before you choose flights. If you miss it, a night in Nha Trang and the first boat the next morning is the practical plan.

Can you drive us on after the retreat?

Yes. The boat returns you to the lounge, and a car from there goes to Da Lat (about 3 to 3¾ hours), Mui Ne (about 3½ to 4½ hours) or Saigon. See the onward table.
