Bui Vien is the centre of Saigon’s backpacker district, a short street of bars, travel agents, noodle stalls and 24-hour minimarts, and Duc Vuong sits right on it at No. 195. The hotel’s own site says the group has 15 years of experience, and the old listing here described it as a two-star hotel with free breakfast and dinner for guests. The hotel calls itself Duc Vuong Saigon Hotel - Bui Vien (the old listing said simply Duc Vuong Hotel), so the Bui Vien tag is what tells it from its sister hotel on Cao Thang.
Is a car the right choice for a hotel on Bui Vien?
Yes, but a small one. This is a two-person-and-a-suitcase hotel for most guests, and a sedan is the right car. A 7-seater only makes sense for a family of five or heavy luggage, and a larger vehicle will not get any closer to the door. What matters here is the last 100 metres, not the vehicle class.
Can the car actually reach 195 Bui Vien?
In the afternoon, mostly yes. After dark the street fills with plastic stools, motorbikes and walkers, and a driver may prefer to stop at the end of the street and let you walk. Tell the driver the number (195) and the name, and expect to wheel your own bag for a minute on a late arrival. The hotel has a 24-hour front desk, so a 1 am landing is not a problem for check-in; the lobby and the noise just look different at that hour.
What does Duc Vuong’s own airport transfer cost?
The hotel does not publish a price on its site. Booking.com says transfers can be arranged “at a fee”, and an Expedia search snippet in October 2026 showed VND 375,000, though the snippet did not say whether that is per person or per car. Ask the hotel which, and for how many seats. A booked car shows its fixed price per car up front.
Is the rooftop bar part of the hotel?
Yes. The View Rooftop runs on floors 8 and 9, and the hotel lists it as open from about 7 am to 2 am. Breakfast is served up there too, which guests mention more than any other single thing. For a street this loud, a rooftop above the noise is the real attraction.
What can I walk to?
23/9 Park, beside the Ben Thanh bus station, is about 400 m away, and Ben Thanh Market is about a kilometre. The Reunification Palace and the Notre-Dame Cathedral are 1.4 to 1.8 km, a 20 to 30 minute walk in the heat or a short ride. For the museums, the museum list for Saigon shows what is within a short taxi ride, and the night markets are an easy evening trip.
Taxi from Duc Vuong to Mui Ne, Can Tho or Vung Tau
Because Pham Ngu Lao is a tangle of lanes, the best long-trip pickup is at the Bui Vien end of the street, not the middle, and an early start gets you clear of the centre before 7 am. Mui Ne is 2½ hours on a clear run and typically 3 to 4, Can Tho 2½ to 3½, and Vung Tau about 1½ to 2½. The Cu Chi tunnels are an easy day trip with the car waiting; see Cu Chi.
