Is Hilton Saigon a new hotel?
Yes, it is the first Hilton-branded hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and it opened on 15 March 2024 on Me Linh Square, the roundabout with the Tran Hung Dao statue facing the river. The hotel’s pitch is the view: rooms and suites look over the Saigon River and the port, and the 39th floor holds Residence Eleven, a Northern Chinese restaurant, with a rooftop Song Bar. Below that are Me Linh Lounge and The Strand, the all-day restaurant. Because it is new, older printed directions and some drivers’ memories won’t place it. “Hilton, Me Linh Square, behind the river” works better than the tower’s name.
Where exactly is the door?
The address is 11 Me Linh Square, Ben Nghe Ward. The square sits where Hai Ba Trung ends at Ton Duc Thang and the river, which means the hotel is at the quieter river corner of District 1 rather than in the middle of Dong Khoi. For arrivals, ask for the main entrance on the square. The doormen handle the bags from the car, so you won’t walk far with luggage.
Does Hilton run its own airport car, and what does it cost?
Hilton arranges one, and the listings put it high. Klook’s page shows an airport shuttle fee of VND 1,950,000 per vehicle one way, with a maximum of 2 passengers (read Oct 2026). A guest on Tripadvisor in February 2025 wrote that the hotel’s arrival car cost about $80, which they considered high. We could not open the hotel’s own site, so treat both as listing figures and ask when you book. The occupancy cap matters: a couple fits, a family with four bags does not, and the 7-seater price in the booking box above is the like-for-like comparison.
What can I walk to from Me Linh Square?
The river promenade and Bach Dang wharf are a couple of minutes away. Bitexco Financial Tower is about 10 minutes on foot. The Opera House and Dong Khoi are about 10 minutes; Notre-Dame and the Central Post Office, which the hotel lists as walking distance, are nearer 15. If you want an older hotel on the same river road, Hotel Majestic Saigon and Lotte Hotel Saigon are both a short walk along the water.
Taxi from Hilton Saigon to Mui Ne, Can Tho or Vung Tau
Getting out of the centre is the slow part: Me Linh Square is far from the expressway, so start before 7 am or after 9 am. Mui Ne is 2½ hours on a clear run, typically 3 to 4. Can Tho is 2½ to 3½, and Vung Tau 1½ to 2½. In the other direction, a car from Mui Ne can drop you at the Hilton door by the afternoon, so you can check in and still have the evening.
