An Okura Nikko hotel on the Nguyen Van Cu side
Hotel Nikko Saigon belongs to the Okura Nikko group, the Japanese hotel company whose roots go back to Japan Airlines, and its own site opens with omotenashi, Japanese hospitality, as its theme. It is a 23-storey tower with 334 rooms and suites and 53 serviced apartments, which opened around 2011. Guests on TripAdvisor who first stayed in 2013 still write about the service years later. The restaurants are La Brasserie, a Cantonese room called Ming Court and a Japanese outlet.
Where is Hotel Nikko Saigon, and is it walkable?
It is at 235 Nguyen Van Cu, in the Cau Ong Lanh Ward. This is not the Dong Khoi shopping district and not the backpacker streets. The hotel lists driving times: 10 minutes to Ben Thanh Market, 12 to the Cathedral and Opera House. Most guests take the hotel’s free shuttle or a car into the centre. If you want to walk out of your lobby into cafés and bars, a hotel on Dong Khoi suits better.
How long from the airport to Hotel Nikko Saigon?
The hotel says 25 minutes, and that is realistic outside rush hour. The last stretch on Nguyen Van Cu is an ordinary city street rather than a hotel drive. A sedan is the right car for one or two travellers with bags. A family of four with suitcases should be in a 7-seater.
Does the hotel arrange airport pick-up, and what does it cost?
Yes, and the shuttle page gives no number. It says rental quotations are decided by vehicle and your itinerary, converted to dong, plus 5% service charge and VAT, and asks you to email reservation@hotelnikkosaigon.com.vn or call +84 28 3925 7777. A travel-site listing in October 2026 shows an airport shuttle fee of about VND 1,900,000, and a TripAdvisor poster in 2019 was quoted $80 at the desk. Treat that as the range of a hotel limousine and compare with the fixed price in the booking box.
Money on arrival
The hotel has stopped exchanging foreign currency, and its policy page asks guests to exchange at the airport before leaving the arrivals hall or use the ATM in the lobby. If you arrive late with no dong, take cash at the airport or ask the driver to pass an ATM on the way.
Taxi from Hotel Nikko Saigon to Mui Ne, Vung Tau or Can Tho
The tower sits south of the centre, which is no help or hindrance for the road out. Mui Ne takes 2½ hours on a clear run and 3 to 4 typically, Vung Tau 1½ to 2½, and Can Tho 2½ to 3½. Leaving before 7am is the best way to skip the first hour of congestion.
