Is Novotel Saigon Centre in District 1 or District 3?
The postcode says Ho Chi Minh City, the hotel’s Accor page says Xuan Hoa Ward, and most guests still call the area District 3. The hotel is at 167 Hai Ba Trung, on the edge of the centre, close enough to walk to Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Opera House and in an area of offices and consulates. For a driver, the phrase that works is “Novotel, Hai Ba Trung”, since Accor has other Novotels in the city.
How long is the airport run to Hai Ba Trung?
Accor says 20 minutes by car, Travel Weekly says 6 km, and and Luxury Escapes quotes about half an hour. They are all right at different hours. Plan 25 to 45 minutes in daytime, and more between 4:30 and 7:30 pm. Hai Ba Trung is a main road, so the car pulls in at the hotel’s front entrance rather than waiting on the street.
Who runs the hotel’s own car, and at what price?
There is no airport price on the Accor page or the hotel’s own site (read 4 Oct 2026), so airport questions go to reception. Since you don’t know the figure until you ask, get it in writing: the car type, the all-in price, and what happens if the flight is delayed. Our fixed price per car, with flight tracking, is in the booking box above.
What is the hotel like, and what is near it?
It has 247 rooms, a pool, a spa, the Food Exchange restaurant for all-day dining and the OnTop bar on the 20th floor with 360-degree views over the city. The Premier Lounge serves executive-floor guests. Seven meeting spaces, 600 sq m in all, with the Champagne Ballroom, make it popular with business groups, and a guest review notes the noise from the venue in front of the hotel at night, so ask for a high floor.
On foot, Accor lists attractions at 700 m to 1.8 km, 9 to 22 minutes’ walk: the Central Post Office and Notre-Dame, the Opera House, Nguyen Hue walking street (1.3 km) and the War Remnants Museum. Ben Thanh Market is a bit further, about 5 minutes by car.
Leaving Hai Ba Trung for the coast or the Mekong
From here, the road out takes the same crowded first half hour as any District 1 hotel. Mui Ne is 2½ to 4 hours, Vung Tau about 1½ to 2½, and Can Tho 2½ to 3½. The Cu Chi tunnels make a half-day return with the car waiting.
