Resort transfer: Ask the hotel; not published. Its site says it organises transfers on request, and sells a chauffeur-driven airport transfer offer, but lists no per-car price. Contact it by email at h2077@sofitel.com or by phone on +84 28 3824 1555 (Oct 2026).

Our private car: $15 (400.000₫) for a sedan, $17 for a 7-seater. Per car, tolls included.

Where is Sofitel Saigon Plaza?

On Le Duan, the long boulevard that runs from the Zoo and Botanical Garden down to the Reunification Palace. It is a quieter part of District 1 than Dong Khoi, with the French, British and US consulates on the same road. The 284-room tower is a 1999 building, renovated in 2012 according to Agoda.

How long is the ride from Tan Son Nhat?

About 7 km, and 20 to 45 minutes for most of the day. The route comes in along the broad boulevards on the northern side of the centre rather than the old Dong Khoi grid, which is why a Le Duan address tends to be easier than the river hotels. Weekday evening is the exception.

Does the hotel do the airport car, and what is the price?

Yes, on request: the hotel’s address for it is h2077@sofitel.com, with +84 28 3824 1555 as the phone line. No price is published. The hotel’s site also sells a “Luxury Airport Transfer” offer, a chauffeur-driven car bundled with a suite night and a set dinner at ST25 by KOTO, so check whether a package suits you.

Two or three guests with bags are fine in a sedan. Families go for a 7-seater.

What can I reach on foot?

The Reunification Palace, the Zoo and Botanical Garden, Notre-Dame and the Central Post Office are all walkable from Le Duan. Ben Thanh Market and the river are a short ride. The museums in Saigon are the usual half-day here.

Where do I join the car at the end of the stay?

At the front door on Le Duan. If you are heading straight out of town, you start on the northern side of the centre, which makes the first stretch quicker than from the river. Mui Ne is 2½ hours on a clear run and 3 to 4 typically, Can Tho 2½ to 3½ and Vung Tau 1½ to 2½.

Is Sofitel Saigon Plaza worth a car rather than a walk-up taxi?

The hotel is a French-flavoured five-star with a rooftop pool, and arrivals are mostly guests on business or a first Saigon trip, often landing in the evening. With 7 km to cover, the car question is about certainty rather than distance: a named driver at arrivals, a fixed fare and a plate number you can read from your phone before you land. For a flight arriving after a long haul, our fast-track immigration add-on at SGN is the other thing worth pricing, because the queue can run 1 to 2 hours.

Our driver standard

The car you'd want after a long flight

Car quality in Vietnam varies wildly: a driver smoking between jobs, seatbelts tucked away or missing, a car that's done half a million kilometres. This is the standard we hold every driver to, and what we ask you about after every trip.

  • Calm hands on the wheel. Smooth, unhurried driving. Safety comes before speed, every time.
  • The horn is for emergencies. Not a musical instrument. Anyone who has sat in Saigon traffic knows why we say this.
  • No smoke, no perfume bomb. Nobody smokes in our cars, and there's no air freshener strong enough to make your eyes water.
  • Air you'd want to breathe. Cabin filters changed on schedule, so the air-con blows clean, not twenty years of exhaust.
  • Newer cars, kind suspension. Cars in good condition, with seats and suspension made for a four-hour drive.
  • Seatbelts that work. In every seat. Child seats are free on request.
