Which part of the tower is the hotel, and where does the car stop?
Landmark 81, in the Vinhomes Central Park development on the Binh Thanh bank of the Saigon River, is Vietnam’s tallest building, and the Vinpearl hotel takes its upper floors. Marriott puts the Club Lounge on the 71st floor, 319 m up, and the Presidential Suite, 488 m2, across the whole 68th floor. Guest reviews describe going in at ground level and taking a lift to a lobby on the 48th floor, then changing lifts to reach the room, with breakfast on the 66th. So the car stops at the tower, not at the front door of a hotel with a drive. The address is 720A Dien Bien Phu, Thanh My Tay Ward, and the Vietnamese name of the development is the simplest thing to give a driver.
How long does the drive from the airport take?
Trip.com gives 10.68 km to Tan Son Nhat. Allow 30 to 50 minutes: the route runs across the north of the city to Binh Thanh without crossing the river, and the afternoon peak is the slow part. It is a quicker run than to the District 1 hotels at off-peak hours, because you skip the tight central streets.
Can the hotel send a car, and what does it cost?
Marriott’s premium accommodations page promises “opulent round-trip transportation from the airport” for its VIP rooms and suites, and Trip.com says the hotel offers pick-up and drop-off for an additional charge. There is no price on the hotel’s own pages, and third-party listings (Klook, Expedia, Marriott’s activities partner) show widely different figures, some per person and some per vehicle, so do not trust one without checking what vehicle it covers. A booked car comes in at a known per-car price, and it carries the flight tracking if you land late.
Is the metro an alternative?
Partly. Tan Cang station on Metro Line 1 is about 770 m from the tower, and Marriott mentions the electric bus, but neither is a sensible way to bring a suitcase from the airport, since Line 1 does not reach Tan Son Nhat. The metro is useful once you are in town: it runs towards Ben Thanh and the Opera House in the centre.
What does a taxi from Landmark 81 to Mui Ne, Vung Tau or the delta look like?
Setting out from Binh Thanh puts you on the north-east side of the city, so trips to the coast and Cu Chi do not start in the middle of District 1. Vung Tau is about 1½ to 2½ hours, Mui Ne 2½ on a clear run and typically 3 to 4, Can Tho 2½ to 3½, and Ho Tram about 2 to 2½. A Cu Chi day with the car waiting is the trip to the north-west.
