Which Xuan Loc Hotel is this?
There are three places a search for “Xuan Loc hotel” can send you. Xuan Loc is a town in Dong Nai province, a Loc Xuan Hotel stands at 15 Tran Quy Cap in District 6, and the hotel here is the 3 star on Le Anh Xuan Street in District 1, numbers 47-49-51. Booking sites also list that building as Lavender Hotel Le Anh Xuan, with about 70 rooms, and note it as “also known as Xuan Loc Hotel”. It is not the Avanti (formerly Lavender Central), which is a separate hotel elsewhere in the centre. The old listing described a conference room, a gym and broadband in the rooms.
What is Le Anh Xuan like to arrive on?
It is a short, narrow street right behind the Ben Thanh Market area, between the market and the Pham Ngu Lao backpacker blocks, and a neighbouring hotel on the street also describes itself as a five minute walk from Ben Thanh. Cars drop at the kerb and the street is often full of parked motorbikes, so a sedan is the right vehicle: a minibus would struggle to stop. For a family of four with big cases, a 7-seater can stop at the nearest corner and the driver helps with the last few metres.
What can I walk to from here?
Ben Thanh Market and Saigon Square are both about five minutes away, which is the main selling point for a short stay. The backpacker streets of Pham Ngu Lao are five to ten minutes, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum about ten, and Dong Khoi roughly fifteen.
Is it a good choice for a short stopover?
For one or two nights it works: you leave the airport car at the door, walk to Ben Thanh for dinner, and the early bus or a morning transfer is five minutes away. The hotel is a small independent, so a late arrival needs a call ahead, and rooms on the street side hear the motorbikes. If you are leaving for Vung Tau or the Mekong at dawn, book the car the night before and say which corner you will be standing at.
How far is the airport, and does the hotel have a shuttle?
The airport is about 6.9 km away, 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Booking listings show a 24-hour shuttle but the hotel publishes no price, so ask before you assume it is cheaper than a taxi from the rank.
From Le Anh Xuan to Vung Tau, Mui Ne or Can Tho
An early start avoids the centre. Vung Tau takes 1½ to 2½ hours, Mui Ne 3 to 4 and Can Tho 2½ to 3½.
