Where is Bamboo Village on the Mui Ne strip?
At number 38 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, the coast road that runs the length of Mui Ne, in the Ham Tien section where most of the restaurants, bars and kite schools are. That is the main reason people pick it over the quieter resorts at either end: you can walk to dinner. The Phan Thiet end, where the Anantara is, is 10 to 15 minutes back along the road, and the dunes are 15 to 25 minutes forward.
What kind of resort is it?
A family-owned four-star that has traded since 1998. It is built as a garden of bungalows and villa-style rooms on the beach, with village-style paths between them, rather than a tower. The resort lists an adult pool and a family pool, the Water Lily Spa (massage, facials, sauna), the Strawy restaurant serving Vietnamese, seafood and international food with breakfast, and the Blue Heaven Bar. Weekend barbecues with live music run on some evenings. Reviews on the major sites repeatedly mention the staff and the gardens.
Is it a good value choice or a luxury one?
It sits between the two. It has the beachfront, the pools and the spa of a four-star resort, and prices that match, without the villa and butler offering of the Anantara or The Anam. It fits couples and families who want the strip’s restaurants on the doorstep.
How should I tell the driver where to go?
Give number 38 Nguyen Dinh Chieu and the resort name. Several resorts on the road have similar names or numbers, and Ham Tien has many small hotels, so the driver will go to the right gate if he has the number.
Does the resort run an airport shuttle?
Its site says guests can come by bus or car from Tan Son Nhat in 2 to 3 hours and an airport shuttle appears on its Expedia listing, but no price is published. Ask the resort for a quote if you want to compare it with ours.
