Is this Ho Tram Osaka Resort, and is it still open?
It is the same resort under a newer name. The 2009 listing for Ho Tram Osaka Resort & Spa gave 63 rooms and 18 bungalows, a Gecko restaurant, a spa and an email at hotramresort.com. Today Ho Tram Beach Boutique Resort & Spa trades from that same web domain with rooms, bungalows and pool villas, its site footer still names the operating branch as KDL Ho Tram Osaka, and Foody’s Vietnamese listing still carries the Osaka name. An independent review describes over 80 rooms and bungalows on about 8 hectares of beach with casuarina trees, which matches. Quote the address and the resort’s current name to your driver and the front desk.
Does the resort run a shuttle from Saigon?
Yes, but a paid one and only once a day each way. The resort’s site lists a scheduled shuttle bus from 48A Dang Dung, Tan Dinh, in Saigon at 14:00, returning from the resort at 11:30, reserved at least 48 hours ahead and subject to seats. Meliá and Dhawa run free shuttles for their own guests; this one carries a charge, confirmed at booking. It does not go to the airport, but the resort also lists a private transfer from Tan Son Nhat. Reserve on +84 913 781 524.
How long is the drive from Tan Son Nhat?
2½ to 3¼ hours by car, mostly on the expressways. The resort’s own site says 120 km and “an easy two-hour drive” from the city, and 2 to 3 hours by road on its how-to-get-there page; that is from central Saigon, not the airport, and an independent reviewer gives 90 minutes to 2 hours. Treat 2½ hours as the clear-road figure from the airport.
What is it like, and is the beach good for swimming?
It’s low-rise and informal, set beside the Binh Chau–Phuoc Buu nature reserve, and many guests value that over the large resorts down the strip such as Meliá Ho Tram and Dhawa Ho Tram. The same reviewer found the sea itself choppy with currents, so plan on the pool for swimming. The old listing also mentioned tennis courts, a driving range and activities such as cycling and trekking in the reserve.
Day trips and going on
The Binh Chau hot springs are about 25–35 minutes away and Vung Tau 45–60 minutes. Book either from the resort and ask the car to wait. Onward routes to Mui Ne and Phan Thiet, Vung Tau, Binh Chau and the airport are in the table below, in both directions. The wider choice of resorts is on the Ho Tram page.
