Is Meliá Ho Tram’s free airport shuttle worth taking?
Often, yes, if it fits. The resort’s June to 6 September 2026 schedule has one airport run a day: it leaves Tan Son Nhat (Column 10, ground floor) at 18:00 and leaves the resort at 14:00, and the resort itself puts the trip at about 3½ hours. Seats are first come, first served, and you reserve through the concierge. The city shuttle is a different service, running from a milk-tea shop in Sala Urban Area in Thu Duc at 14:00 and 19:00, and from the resort at 11:00 and 14:00 (about 2 hours).
The shuttle stops being useful when your flight lands at 11:00 or 22:00, when you are travelling in a group that won’t fit the seats left, or when you simply don’t want a 3½-hour bus after a long-haul flight. Check what the schedule says for your dates; we only found the summer 2026 timetable.
Who is the private car for at Meliá?
Anyone whose flight doesn’t match the 18:00 slot, and anyone leaving early. The departure from the resort is 14:00, which is awkward for a morning flight the next day and impossible for an early one. A car leaves when you do. It also suits families on the all-inclusive plan who arrive tired and want to be at the pool by dinner, and golfers heading on to The Grand’s course with bags.
For the airport run on departure, leave the resort about 5½ hours before an international flight.
How long is the drive, and which road?
2½ to 3¼ hours from Tan Son Nhat. The car takes the Long Thanh–Dau Giay expressway and the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau expressway, which has been open to vehicles under 9 seats since May 2026 (vans and 16-seaters still use Highway 51, 30–45 minutes slower). The last stretch is the coast road through Ho Tram. If you land at the new Long Thanh airport once flights start, see Long Thanh to Ho Tram.
What is near Meliá, and can I do a day trip?
Meliá sits on the Ho Tram strip with its own beach, and the resort added rooms and a “Wellness Inclusive” concept from August 2026. It runs a weekly Tuesday shuttle to Vung Tau (a small fee for guests not on the all-inclusive plan, capacity 14), so for any other day a car is the way. Vung Tau is 45–60 minutes away; the Binh Chau hot springs are about 30–40 minutes. Next-door resorts include Dhawa Ho Tram and the older Ho Tram Beach Boutique Resort. The Ho Tram guide covers the strip.
Going on from Meliá
Vung Tau, Binh Chau, Mui Ne (2¾–3½ hours east) and both Saigon airports are bookable in either direction; the price table below has them all.
