Is it the old Asiana hotel?
Yes. IHG announced the hotel in 2009 as the first international luxury hotel to open in Ho Chi Minh City in four years, and it opened that autumn as InterContinental Asiana Saigon, the hotel part of the Asiana Plaza complex that also holds serviced residences. Some older maps and drivers still say “Asiana”, and a few listings give an older opening year; the address is the safer thing to quote. It is a tower of around 300 rooms with three restaurants and an outdoor pool.
Which corner is it on?
The corner of Hai Ba Trung and Le Duan, behind the Central Post Office, which is the building next to Notre-Dame. Le Duan is a wide, busy road, so for a pickup wait at the hotel entrance and don’t walk round to the Post Office side, where a car cannot stop easily.
How much is the hotel’s own car?
Expedia’s page for the hotel lists an airport shuttle fee of USD 89 per vehicle one way, with a maximum of 2 passengers (read Oct 2026). We could not open the hotel’s own site, so the figure comes from the listing. At that cap, a couple with bags fits and a family of four does not, which is where the 7-seater price in the booking box above is the proper comparison.
What can I walk to from the InterContinental?
The Post Office and Notre-Dame are 3 to 5 minutes away, and Reunification Palace is about 10 minutes down Le Duan. The Opera House is under 10 minutes, and Dong Khoi shopping starts beyond it. Ben Thanh Market is around 15 minutes on foot or 5 by car. If you’d rather be on the river, Hilton Saigon and Le Meridien Saigon are about a 10 to 15 minute walk away.
Taxi from the InterContinental to Mui Ne or Can Tho
From the centre, allow an extra half hour in the morning rush. Mui Ne is 2½ hours on a clear run and typically 3 to 4. Can Tho and the Mekong are 2½ to 3½ hours, Vung Tau 1½ to 2½. Cu Chi works as a day trip with the car waiting.
